Filtration Systems

Industrial filtration units that remove turbidity, chlorine, iron and suspended solids and protect the treatment stages that follow.

Overview

Overview

Filtration is the first line of defence in any water treatment system. Whether the water goes to direct use, to an RO plant or to a softener, removing turbidity, suspended solids, chlorine and iron early protects everything downstream and extends its life.

Aqua System designs, supplies and installs industrial filtration units of every type and supplies their replacement media — graded sand and gravel, activated carbon and Birm — together with cartridge filters of all types.

Choosing the right filter

Sand and multimedia filters remove turbidity and suspended solids. Activated carbon removes free chlorine, odour and part of the organics, and is essential ahead of RO membranes. Birm is used to take iron and manganese out of well water. Cartridge filters provide fine filtration as the final protective stage. The selection and number of stages follow from the water analysis and the required flow.

Backwashing and operation

Media filters run in filtration cycles followed by a backwash that restores the bed. We set the backwash cycles manually or automatically, depending on the design, monitor the media and recommend replacement at the end of its service life.

Problems we solve

Challenges this service addresses

  • Turbidity and suspended solids

Cloudy water that blocks pipes and nozzles and contaminates product.

  • Chlorine attacking membranes and resin

Free chlorine damages RO membranes and shortens resin life.

  • Iron and manganese in well water

Brown stains and deposits in tanks and equipment and a metallic taste.

  • Premature equipment wear

Without pre-filtration, downstream stages carry more load than they were built for.

System & treatment method

How the treatment works

  1. Sand / multimedia filter

Graded layers of gravel and sand remove turbidity and suspended solids.

  2. Activated carbon filter

Removes free chlorine, odour and organics.

  3. Birm filter

Oxidises and retains iron and manganese within the bed.

  4. Cartridge filter

Fine filtration as the final protective stage.

Engineering & implementation

How we deliver this service

  1. 01

    Site survey & water analysis

We visit the site, review the water source, its analysis and end use, and agree with your team on the problem and the target.

  2. 02

    Engineering design & selection

We define the treatment stages, capacity and equipment and submit a clear technical and commercial offer.

  3. 03

    Supply

We supply the equipment, media and chemicals specified in the design and check them before they ship to site.

  4. 04

    Installation & commissioning

We install the unit, connect its piping and control panel, then start it up and tune it until it delivers the target water quality.

  5. 05

    Handover & training

We hand the plant over to your operators with hands-on guidance on daily operation and periodic washing.

  6. 06

    Follow-up & technical support

We follow the plant's performance, supply consumables and spare parts and provide technical support when needed.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

How often should a sand filter be backwashed?

It depends on water quality and load. Backwash is usually triggered by a rise in pressure drop across the filter or by a schedule we set during commissioning.

When does carbon media need replacing?

When it no longer removes chlorine or odour effectively. We recommend checking free chlorine after the filter regularly.

Is Birm suitable for every well water?

Birm works within a specific pH and dissolved-oxygen range, so we review the water analysis before recommending it.

Do you supply media without installation?

Yes. We supply filter media and cartridges for existing plants and can carry out the change-out on request.
